First off I want to say thank you for sharing this. Since ATP is the biological energy needed to contract a muscle (for example extending a kick or a punch, or even moving), a taekwondo athlete needs a decent storage of it for training and competition. Why? Because your muscles have a limited storage of ATP in them, exercise burns it up as you train and gradually your supply is being depleted. What happens next is that your muscles become weaker and you become very fatigued leading your performance to decline and making it extremely difficult to continue. The good news it that your can increase the amount of ATP your body makes and increase the amount of it stored in your muscles. There are two significant ways to do this. One is to train more intensely, not necessarily for longer periods, and another is to supplement with creatine monohydrate (a nonessential amino acid). These with both improve ATP and performance.
